Doosan Offers New Ready Kit for Xsite 2D Semi-Automation

Doosan has announced that the company’s popular DX235LCR-5 reduced radius crawler excavator can now be ordered with a new optional ready kit for the Xsite 2D Semi-Automation system. The new ready kit is available through Doosan Smart Solutions.

The Xsite 2D Semi-Automation system provides a fast-track solution for owners to update an existing machine design with additional automation features, to meet future requirements, providing increased productivity through enhanced efficiency, safety and performance.

The ready kit option gives a customer flexibility as they are not obliged to install the complete Xsite 2D Semi-Automation system immediately. The customer’s excavator will have the main brackets and wiring installed in readiness for the rest of the automation system to be added at a later date. They enable a faster and simplified installation of the Xsite 2D Semi-Automation system components with very little or no welding, re-painting, drilling or disassembly required.

The ready kit is fitted on customer machines in the Doosan Customization Centre in Belgium. As a result, lead times on machines can be reduced and the process also lowers workloads in dealer/customer workshops. It is even possible to modify existing orders up to just a few days before the machines are shipped to the customer. Another advantage is that the ready kit is fitted by fully trained staff at the Doosan Customization Centre, so it is an integrated and professional process.

The automated boom, arm and bucket functions in the Xsite 2D Semi-Automation system enable grading against target level and slope requiring only single lever operation to control movement and speed. The Xsite 2D Semi-Automation system also provides integrated machine guidance measuring depth, distance and slope, to show the operator the elevation of their bucket, so they do not have to interrupt their work for grade checking. The bucket assist function locks the bucket orientation to assist in loading work and other applications. The system also sets movement boundaries and limits for the boom, arm and bucket movement.

The system minimizes fatigue for the operator and provides a shorter learning curve for machine handling for new operators. Safety is also improved when working in confined spaces such as inside buildings and under overpasses.

The 24 tonne Doosan DX235LCR-5 reduced radius excavator offers superior digging performance together with flexibility, convenience and low operating costs in a compact design with a minimum swing radius of 2310 mm. DX235LCR-5 meets the growing demand for reduced radius machines for work in confined areas.
